Donor Egg IVF

For patients who are unable to become pregnant for medical reasons, donor egg IVF provides an alternative path to parenthood. This process involves retrieving an egg (oocyte) from a healthy donor, fertilizing it through in vitro fertilization (IVF), and placing the resulting embryo into the recipient’s (or surrogate’s) uterus to achieve pregnancy. This third-party reproduction treatment option gives many couples the opportunity to build a family.

Benefits of Using Donor Egg IVF

Donor egg IVF benefits many patients by allowing them to overcome medical fertility issues, such as advanced maternal age, issues with the ovaries or egg quality, as well as avoid passing on inherited genetic disorders to the donor-conceived child. This third-party reproduction treatment is also an option that can help same-sex couples or single males who are seeking to become parents through reciprocal IVF or gestational surrogacy.

Nevada Fertility Center is proud to partner with Utah Fertility Center to offer an in-house egg donor program option to our patients. This allows us to give you access to pre-qualified, high-quality donors as well as create a rewarding experience for the generous women who give this incredible gift to help others realize their dream of parenthood. Using our egg donor program also benefits patients by reducing costs, since it eliminates the fee for an agency. Because our comprehensive donor screening process ensures we use only the healthiest donor gametes, our donor egg IVF program is among the best in the nation for overall pregnancy success rates.

Our Donor Egg IVF Process

At Nevada Fertility Center, our donor egg IVF process is designed to give you the quickest path to parenthood while ensuring that all parties involved have an exceptional experience and receive the highest-quality care. A member of our third-party reproduction team will oversee the entire process to help manage clinical, financial and logistical details. We will work with you to understand your medical history, review details of any previous cycles and address all your questions and concerns.

Finding Your Match

Choosing the right donor to help you grow your family can be an overwhelming and emotional task. Our team of third-party reproduction experts is ready to help guide you through the process so that you can make informed decisions that will help you reach your personal family-building goals. First, you will determine whether to choose a known donor (a family member or friend) or an undisclosed donor from a database or agency. Patients who participate in our in-house egg donor program gain access to one of the largest databases of pre-qualified egg donors in the country (through our partnership with Utah Fertility Center). We will guide you as you refine the list of donor characteristics that are important to you and your partner, which may include emotional, physical, ethnic, cultural and religious compatibility.

For patients who choose to use an external donor agency, our team can advise you on the egg donor process and collaborate with your chosen agency to coordinate your care, however, we do not facilitate donor selection.

Egg Recipient Medical Evaluation

Once you have narrowed your selection to 1-3 donor candidates, recipients will schedule a medical workup at our Las Vegas clinic to ensure she is capable of safely carrying a successful pregnancy and screen her for infectious disease.

Legal & Financial Considerations

Full disclosure of the complete process (including all costs and legal considerations as well as potential medical and psychological risks) is essential for all participants. We will guide you through this process and facilitate fully informed consent from both the recipient couple and donor. We are also able to refer donors and recipient couples to a reproductive legal specialist for independent legal consultation.

Egg Retrieval & IVF Procedure

Once the recipient couple has finalized the details of the egg donation, your donor will initiate the medical egg donation process with the goal to retrieve eggs that can be used in your fresh or frozen IVF cycle. Learn more about our IVF treatment process or contact us at NFC3rdParty@NVFertility.com for more details about this procedure.

Donor Egg FAQs

+   How long does the donor IVF process take?

We understand that timeline is incredibly important to families seeking third-party reproductive treatments. In many cases, we are able to begin the donor cycle within 6 weeks (depending on donor and availability and scheduling). This can be significantly faster than working with external agencies. The entire process can take between 4-7 months, depending on a number of factors, including donor availability and schedule.

+   How many eggs are produced in a donor egg cycle?

At Nevada Fertility Center, our donor egg IVF procedures and protocols are designed to give you the best chance of retrieving multiple eggs to create healthy embryos that allow you to achieve your family-building goals. The number of eggs resulting from your individual cycle will vary based on a range of factors, and we cannot guarantee outcomes. Our comprehensive donor screening process ensures we use only the healthiest donor gametes, however, our donor egg IVF program is ranked in the top 5% for overall pregnancy success rates.

+   Do you work with donor agencies?

Yes. At Nevada Fertility Center, our in-house donor program is designed to give patients the quickest path to parenthood and reduce costs by eliminating the need for an agency. If a recipient couple prefers to use an external agency, however, we are also happy to collaborate with your chosen agency to coordinate your care. In these cases, we can advise patients on the donor egg process but we do not facilitate donor selection.

+   Can my egg donor be anonymous?

Egg recipients can choose to work with an unknown donor. In this case, the recipient will receive donor profile information, but we will not disclose any information about the donor’s identity. Undisclosed (unknown) donors will not meet the recipients or know the outcome of your IVF cycle. It is essential to understand, however, that donor anonymity can be impacted by information available in public forums, such as social media and genetic testing services. You can protect your anonymity by being selective about the information you choose to make public.

+       How much will it cost to use donor eggs?

At Nevada Fertility Center, all our egg donors are financially compensated for their time and commitment. We offer regionally competitive compensation, which will be discussed during your initial consultation. Compensation is given upon the completion of the donor’s successful egg retrieval. If you choose to work with an external egg donor agency, you will work directly with the agency to manage associated fees.

+       What are the legal requirements of egg donation?

Once you have matched with an egg donor, our expert third-party reproduction team will guide you through the informed consent process to ensure you fully understand and are prepared for this commitment. We do not require additional legal agreements for egg donation, however, the recipient family may request this. In such cases, our egg donation coordinators can refer you to a reproductive legal specialist who can guide you through this process.
